Vanesa Mouka

Started to practice yoga in Miami in 2011 and since then she has experienced how her life changed in a positive way, especially in physical health, mental awareness and inner peace. On her regular practice, she mixes body movement through asanas, mobility flows, stretches and strengthening drills to help build more control in transitions and a graceful practice.

You can find her in social media as @allyoga.

Charlie Carpenter

Originally from the high plains of Kansas, Charlie’s yoga trek began in the free community yoga classes offered in and around Miami.  From his first yoga experience, he felt as though the tumblers of a lock had finally clicked into place and he knew that Yoga had forever changed the trajectory of his life.  Diving in with both feet, Charlie was soon practicing Yoga on a daily basis.  And before long, he opted for a Vegan lifestyle.  After years of practice, Charlie completed his 200HR Yoga Teacher Training with Rina Jackubowicz in 2017.

Charlie’s passion for yoga stems from the perception that there is always another asana to implement or variation to pose.   He simply believes that each Yogi evolves incrementally with each practice.  He strives to bring this enthusiasm for method to the students of his classes regardless of level or ability.  Whenever Charlie is off the mat, he is working as a consultant for a small multimedia company.

Carmen Hernandez

I was born and raised in Cuba, where my passion for athletics began with diving starting at age of 5, moving to gymnastics, track & field, tennis, basketball, judo, and aikido, dancing in school performances and being part of a local artistic community called “Las Estrellas Infantiles,” or “The Infant Stars”. I was a teenager when I began the practice of Tai-Chi Chuan. The discipline connected me to energies in my body I had never felt before. It was around this time that my dear friend Humberto Guerra gave me a book about a physical and spiritual practice called “yoga”. That “Simple Guide to Yoga” began to take me away from the Tai-Chi schedule and lead me into unexplored territory.

I practiced for more than 5 years by myself in Cuba, having only that same first book as my guide and instructor. It wasn’t until I moved to Jamaica in 2007 that I “attended” a Yoga class, when due to the excitement of seeing the way it actually worked without a book, I preferred to observe from the garden. It was in the United States in 2008 that I was part of a group practice (at Dharma Studio in Coconut Grove) for the first time and started to learn from a direct teacher. At the beginning of 2013 I completed my Yoga Teacher training and became certified by the worldwide Yoga Alliance for the 200 hours standard for Registered Yoga Schools (RYS), internationally recognized from the Yoga Vedanta Forest Academy of Rishikesh and the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres and Ashrams. I have a great love and respect for the Sivananda teachings. Taking the Sivananda teachings as roots, my classes and self-practice involve an organic blend of movements and breathing techniques. Each class includes philosophical components and flows between challenging and gentle experiences through the poses, or asanas. The purpose of this method is building strength, endurance and correct body alignment, while relaxing the mind and balancing the inner sun and moon lights that shine inside each of us.

I believe various ways of living truly affect and even determine what individuals, communities and societies become. I dream of a future where animal rights won't be approached as an issue, but as an existing fact. Veganism has changed my life and saved the lives of other living beings.

I've chosen love over desire and so can you.

I’m very thankful to have found Sri Dharma Mittra and to be able to incorporate from his teachings a refreshing Sivananda influence, while having a more energetic practice (which I consider more appropriate for the world we live in).

While studying Kriya Yoga in Rishikesh, India I had the honor to meet mother Ganga and incorporate her blessings into my teachings.

I’m simply full of desire and joy to keep sharing this journey with the world.
